Group 6: Human rights and religion

Although the Universal Declaration of Human Rights guarantees every human free choice of religion and the freedom to practice it, it seems to be a far cry from reality in some places on earth. Even today people get excluded, oppressed or persecuted because for religious reasons. But how to protect people from discrimination? How to solve these conflicts in a peaceful way? How to establish a lasting dialogue of the religions? This is one point for the participants to discuss. Furthermore the group should deal with the relationship between Human Rights and religion in general. To what extent can Human Rights be found in religious dogma? Can religious practice limit fundamental rights? How far can freedom of worship go? When is the point reached where the freedom of others is violated?
